Anglers Set for White Marlin Open

Ocean City

The 39th annual White Marlin Open kicked off today in Ocean City.

Hundreds of anglers descended on the resort competing for the $2 million in prize money.

Considered the crown jewel of summer fishing in Ocean City it’s known as world's largest billfish tournament in the world.

The event runs through Friday and fish will be weighed each day beginning at a 4 pm.

There are six types of fish to be caught including tuna, Wahoo, dolphin, shark, Blue Marlin and White Marlin.

Each species of fish has minimum length and weight requirements set by the tournament officials each year.

The event is free to the viewing public.
