Adding Six Stories to Downtown Salisbury Building for Students

developer

A building in downtown Salisbury could be about to get a lot taller.

Nick Simpson told the city council that he wants to build student apartments at 132 East Main Street adding six more stories to the existing four story building.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that he hopes to have the project completed by the end of 2019.

Simpson told the council this week that there would be retail space on the first floor with four and two bedroom units above.

The paper reports that the units would be fully furnished and come with free parking garage access along with a garden, coffee bar and study rooms.

The building has been known as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge since its construction in 1920.

Simpson would renamed it The Ross, a family name.
