3 Bald Eagles to be Released into the Wild

Wildlife Center of Virginia

Three bald eagles who were rescued in May are being released into the wild at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge today.

The Wildlife Center of Virginia says two were picked up on May 12th\ when a storm blew down their nest at a Chincoteague campground.

The third was discovered in Essex County on May 23rd where a tornado had destroyed its nest.

That bird suffered a pelvic fracture but has healed up since.

The center says each bird has been given a GPS transmitter to track them.
