Old movies, old guns, and Old Island are on view at the seasonal grand opening of the Gov. J. Millard Tawes Museum, Sat., May 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “Crisfield Goes to the Movies” is an exhibit exploring the old movie theaters that locals once enjoyed. Antique rifles, fishing gear, and decoys celebrate Crisfield’s hunting legacy. Old photos capture the faces and places associated with life along the Chesapeake Bay, including Crisfield's Old Island, the newest installment in the rotating exhibit, Lost Villages of Somerset County.
The museum gift shop will be open, as well as The Shanty, behind the museum, featuring live crabs and educational programs. Also visit the storied Ward Brothers Workshop (3195 Sackertown Rd.), with demonstrations by award-winning carver Rich Smoker.

The University and Salisbury Chorales present Requiem for Peace by Canadian composer Larry Nickel. This work for chamber orchestra, soloists and chorus expresses a universal hope for peace through settings of poems from around the world in 13 languages.

Come to the award-winning Annual Poplar Hill Mansion Festival as we celebrate the Federal Period history of Salisbury! The day long festival will include War of 1812 re-enactors: Chesapeake Independent Blues, live dancing and music featuring the Dover Country Dancers, educational displays, a children's activity area with crafts, Games, Community Curator's Tent, and a May Pole to celebrate May Day. There will also be a Market Square with vendors selling handcrafted items on the street in front of the Mansion. It’s sure to be a fun filled day! Tours of Poplar Hill Mansion will also be available throughout the day and volunteers will be wearing period dress. This is a FREE event with parking located in the Bethesda Methodist Church parking lot on the corner of Division St. and Isabella St. in the Newtown Neighborhood.
