Rising Workers Comp. Reviewed by Delaware State Panel

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A state panel established to oversee efforts to keep workers compensation rates in Delaware affordable is getting down to work.

The Workers Compensation Oversight Panel is charged with creating a new medical fee schedule that would result in a 33 percent reduction in medical costs for workers compensation cases over three years.

Gov. Jack Markell planned to attend Monday's opening meeting of the oversight panel, which was established by legislation passed this year to address recent steep increases in workers compensation costs for businesses.

Workers Compensation Panel Ponders Reducing Rates


WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A state panel established to address recent rate increases for workers' compensation insurance in Delaware is continuing to look at ways to keep rates down.

The Workers' Compensation Task Force will convene Friday in Wilmington to discuss reform proposals and adopt a fee schedule based on Medicare rate. The panel also was to consider a new rating bureau for insurance carriers.

Freeze for Medical Provider Fees Recomended for Delaware Workers Compensation


DOVER, Del. (AP) - A state panel examining soaring workers compensation rates in Delaware is recommending that the state implement a two-year inflation freeze on medical providers' fee schedules.

The recommendation is included in a report released Monday by the workers compensation task force. The panel also recommends a permanent reduction in the inflation rate allowed for hospital treatment, and reductions in allowed reimbursements in several medical categories.
