David Recor has quit his job as OC city manager.

Media outlets are reporting that his sudden departure was confirmed by Ocean City’s communications manager Jessica Waters today.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that she declined to provide any details.

His resignation was accepted by the Mayor and Town Council during a meeting yesterday.

WBOC reports that Mayor Rick Meehan will take on the city manager's job temporarily until a national search can fill the post.

Recor was involved in a car accident in which he drifted off the road and hit a sign.

The driver of an ambulance involved in an accident that left a patient dead has been charged with failure to obey a traffic signal.

38-year old Peter Surran with the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company struck a  Star-Transit bus in Keller on June 1st.

Authorities say the patient, 60-year old Douglas McCready, died at the scene.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the ambulance did have its lights and siren on while going south Route 13 when Surran ran a red light.

Authorities say that the ambulance overturned a number of times.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Officials in Maryland say a 911 dispatcher told a 13-year-old girl to stop whining after a hit-and-run crash that killed her father.

Capt. Russ Davies, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, said Thursday that the dispatcher has been reassigned to a position away from the public pending an investigation. He says the dispatcher could return to answering 911 calls after the investigation but could also face termination.

WYE MILLS, Md. (AP) - Police say a pregnant woman was behind the wheel of a car that hit a tractor-trailer on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The woman, her unborn child and four other people – all from Accomack County -- were killed in the crash.

State police said Sunday that 30-year-old Zarissa Ayres was driving the car when it hit the tractor-trailer early Saturday morning on Route 50 in Wye Mills.

A University of Delaware student has been killed during a crash on Route 40.

Friends of Alexis DeFrancesco  and Alex Clark told the Wilmington News Journal that they were less than two miles one of the student’s apartments when their Nissan Altima was struck by a motorist.

Police say the driver failed to stop for a red light on U.S. 40 at Brookmont Drive.

The accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. killing DeFrancesca and sending Clark to Chistiana Hospital in critical condition.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say two lanes have reopened on southbound Interstate 95 after a crash involving a tractor trailer closed the highway for several hours.

Police say the tractor trailer overturned on I-95 at Delaware Route 141 just after 4 a.m. on Friday.

State troopers closed southbound I-95 until just before 9 a.m. Traffic was being diverted onto Route 141. Police say the closure caused long delays and urged motorists to avoid the area.

Authorities say a two year old was struck by a car while playing in years in Berlin last night.

The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. when the boy wondered onto the Sinepuxtent Road and was struck by a car driven by 26-year old Thomas Purnell.

The child and his mother were driven by Purnell to the local hospital which eventually transferred the child to Johns Hopkins for further treatment.

Police say alcohol does not appear to have been involved but Purnell was cited for driving with an expired driver’s license and without insurance.

The intersection of Bay Street and Route 113 in Berlin just got safer.

It now has new crosswalks, signage and a new speed limit that has been lowered from 55 mph to 45 mph.

In addition, town officials say a lit crossing signal will be put in by September.

The improvements come after a deadly crash in November where on teenager was killed while his brother lost his leg.

The Milford Central Academy was in mourning after a deadly accident that took the life of Tricia Martin the principle of the school along with her 10 year old daughter.

The accident occurred mid-morning on Friday evening in Frederica.

Police say she was driving west when her car went off the road hitting a telephone box and embankment.

Police say that the daughter was able to get out of the car only to be hit by a car.

After a 16 year old Tymeir Dennis was killed last Friday night when he and his brother, Tyheim Bowen, were struck by a state trooper while crossing Route 113 in Berlin local residents say they want some changes to the intersection.

Patricia Dufendach told the town council that she had been asking officials for years to make crossing Route 113 at the intersection of Bay Street safer.

On one side there are apartments and homes while nearly all of the town’s shops are across Route 113 in the western part of the town.

The driver of a Mountaire Farms tractor trailer was killed yesterday afternoon on US Route 113 just south of Kruger Road.

Delaware State Police say 46-year old Colette Childers of Lewes was pulling an empty trailer southbound when it veered off the right edge of the road and hit two trees head-on.

WBOC reports that police say Childers was properly restrained.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A Maryland Transportation Authority Police investigation has found that distracted driving caused a July crash on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that sent a car falling 27 feet into the water.

The agency's report released Thursday says the driver of a tractor-trailer was looking at his driver's side mirror due to flashing lights behind him on July 19. He was going nearly 50 mph and didn't see traffic stopped ahead.

Hebron is in mourning today after the death of David Mammi, the town’s Fire Company president and assistant chief engineer.

He was killed when a tractor with a propane tank trailer that he was driving over turned Tuesday morning in East Fallowfield Township in Pennsylvania this week.

The 34-year old Hebron fireman was beginning his seventh year with the Department and had been president for only two months.

There has been a collision on Noxontown Road and Delaware Route 71 involving two school buses two SUV’s and house.

The accident occurred around 7:25 this morning.

Authorities say that a southbound Appoquinimink bus struck the rear of a southbound Chryler Pacifica that was stopped to turn left onto Noxontown road.

The SUV was pushed into the northbound lanes where it hit the northbound Christina school bus which ended up in a ditch.

A Kia Sedona swerved off the roadway to avoid a collision and struck a house.
