ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland tolls are going down, but the gas tax is going up.

Drivers will be paying less to use bridges, tunnels and roads on Wednesday. The $6 cash toll to cross the Bay Bridge will drop to $4.

Many of the other discounts taking effect will require an E-Z Pass. For example, the discount of using the pass will go from 10 percent to 25 percent for the Baltimore Harbor and Fort McHenry tunnels. That discount also will apply to the Francis Scott Key Bridge, the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Weekend motorists on state Route 1 in Delaware will be paying higher tolls starting on Aug. 1.

State transportation officials said Monday that the weekend tolls will increase starting at 7 p.m. that day. The current weekend toll of $2 for regular passenger vehicles will increase to $3.

Drivers of all other vehicle classes, except oversize loads, also will see weekend tolls increase by a dollar.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Driving is about to get pricier for Delaware motorists.

State Transportation Secretary Shailen Bhatt told lawmakers Thursday that the Markell administration plans to raise tolls on Route 1 by a dollar on weekends to raise more revenue for road maintenance.

The current weekend toll of $2 will increase to $3. The weekday toll will remain at $1.

Bhatt also says his agency will increase borrowing by $20 million next year to pay for road maintenance and repairs.

The price of going across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is going up by an average of 10 percent January 1st 2014.

For passenger cars the toll will go from $12 to $13 during off-peak periods and $15 during peak times – that is Fridays through Sunday between mid-May through mid-September.

There’s also a commuter told of $5 each way for 30 or more one-way trips within 30 days.

The new schedule was approved by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Commission was approved by a vote of 7-to-2 with both commissioners from Northampton County voting no.
