WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Ben Cardin is calling again for the establishment of national parks honoring abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

Cardin says he will join with officials from the NAACP, the National Urban League, the National Organization for Women and other groups on Wednesday in Washington to support a bill that would create parks in Maryland and New York honoring Tubman.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin says a new report shows military exposure to lead is a health hazard.

Cardin says a new report by the National Academy of Science shows lead from ammunition fired on military ranges in the past five years has frequently exceeded federal limits. And the report issued Monday said the decades-old limits are not enough to protect the health of those at the ranges.

CAMBRIDGE, Md. (AP) - A $92,000 federal grant will help plan the future of the Cambridge-Dorchester Airport.

Sens. Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski announced the grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday. The senators say the grant will be used to update the airport's master plan and help identify future needs. The money will also be used to ensure the airport is in compliance with environmental standards and Federal Aviation Administration safety guidelines.

Senator Ben Cardin says he does not believe it is in the national interest to continue the Mandate on corn ethanol.

The recent drought has hit the corn crop hard driving up grain prices.

And that has had a dramatic impact on the poultry industry.

The Maryland Democrat told the Salisbury Daily Times that he really is worried about its future…and called for a way to ensure that the drop in corn output doesn’t harm poultry farmers.
