Navy Begins Carrier Simulation Flights over Wallops Flight Facility

The Monday morning sky over Wallops Flight Facility was filled with Navy carrier practice flights under an agreement that allows for up to 20-thousand flight passes annually.

A Navy pilot is able to simulate as closely as possible a landing on an air craft carrier at sea.

But WBOC reports that some neighbors say they’re concerned about these flights.

Vicki Stevens, who lives in Horntown, told the station said while she supports the military with her husband being a Vietnam veteran but adding 16-thousand additional flights is “a big number.”
