People gathered yesterday to remember Milford Central Academy principal Tricia Martin and her daughter Taryn.

They held – what was billed as – the Dr. Tricia martin Baseball Tournament bringing players from across the state of Delaware to raise funds for a scholarship in her honor.

During the game Dante George of Milford High School told WBOC that he recalled her as knowing all the students names and was the kindest principal he knew.

It’s been three months since they lost their lives in an automobile accident.

The Milford Central Academy was in mourning after a deadly accident that took the life of Tricia Martin the principle of the school along with her 10 year old daughter.

The accident occurred mid-morning on Friday evening in Frederica.

Police say she was driving west when her car went off the road hitting a telephone box and embankment.

Police say that the daughter was able to get out of the car only to be hit by a car.

This week emotions were still raw.

The Milford School District is seeking to explain to the public a referendum they want that would increase property taxes to fund the demolition and rebuilding Milford Middle School.

The facility was closed last year because of infrastructure problems and the students were moved to Milford Central Academy.

In the first year .property taxes would only be increased by $3.65.

But that would then shoot up to $33.20 the next year and to $35.68 in the third year.

Another $2.1 million in additional revenue would increase property taxes by $94.20 a year.
