Dover Downs Sees Plunge in Casino Earnings

There’s have been a major drop in the net earnings for Dover Downs last year from $4.8 million in 2012 to just $13-thousand in 2013.

Denis McGlynn, president and CEO of Dover Downs Gaming and Entertainment and Dover Motorsports Incorporated blamed the decline on competition – especially the Maryland Live! Casino.
The announcement comes a day before the nine-member Lottery and Gaming Study Commission is set to submit alternatives to lawmakers on how to best aid an ailing casino industry.

Big Haul for Maryland Casinos


Maryland's three casinos pulled in $58 million in March.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency announced Friday that Maryland Live Casino in Anne Arundel County accounted for $44.6 million of the revenues. The Hollywood Casino Perryville, which debuted its table games in March, generated $9.5 million. And the Casino at Ocean Downs generated $3.9 million.

Big Money From Maryland Casinos

BALTIMORE (AP) - Gaming officials say Maryland's three casinos generated more than $45 million in revenue in December.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency reported the numbers on Monday.

Hollywood Casino Perryville generated nearly $6 million. The Casino at Ocean Downs generated more than $3.3 million, and Maryland Live Casino in Hanover generated nearly $36 million.

MD Senate Begins Debate on Gambling Expansion

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Maryland Senate is debating amendments to a measure to permit table games like craps at Maryland casinos and to allow a casino in Prince George's County.

The Senate rejected an amendment sponsored by Sen. Nancy Jacobs that would have raised impact grants in Allegany, Cecil and Worcester counties from $200,000 to $400,000.
