Congressman Andy Harris will be facing a former Delegate in the next year’s Republican primary.

He’s Michael Smigiel who believes that Harris has become to open to compromise in Washington.

Smigiel describes himself as a libertarian conservative but touts his time in Annapolis as someone who worked across the aisle with Democrats.The Republican was elected to the House of Delegates from 2003 until his loss last year.

Congressman Andy Harris is seek a third term in the November’s mid-term election.

And, he has been described as a true conservative   

Harris defeated the Republican incumbent Wayne Gilchrest in the 2008 primary only to be defeated by Democrat Frank Kratovil in presidential election that swept Barak Obama into the presidency.

But, Harris came back in the 2010 mid-term elections to defeat Kratovil. He now faces Democratic challenger Bill Tilghman.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Because his Democratic opponent has dropped out, Rep. Andy Harris is planning to hold town hall meetings in place of debates.

Kathy Szeliga, Harris' campaign manager, said Friday that with Democrat Wendy Rosen's exit, Harris would better serve his constituents by holding town hall meetings instead. She also notes there could be multiple write-in candidates.
