DOVER, Del. (AP) - Police in Delaware have arrested a man they say sold ecstasy to an undercover officer at a music festival.

The Dover Police Department said in a news release that a man sold the drug to an officer Friday at the Firefly Music Festival.

Authorities say after the man was arrested and searched, officers found nearly 1,000 ecstasy pills; 40 doses of LSD; MDMA; crystal meth; cocaine; and mushrooms.

Twenty-six-year-old Jordann Reeser of Illinois was charged with numerous counts of possession of drugs with intent to distribute and other offenses.

The Firefly Music Festival in Dover has gotten underway.

Yesterday morning the hip-hop group Trio kicked off the event at the Northeast Hub stage as the early campers got their own parties started.

The festival is now in its sixth years and has grown from 30-thousand attendees in 2012 to 90-thousand last year.

The genres range from hip-hop to alt-country.

The acts include Chance the Rapper, Wale and Twenty One Pilots.

Starting today the population of Dover is expected to double with the opening of the Firefly Music Festival.

Some estimate that at least 90-thousand people are expected to attend.

Officials warn that traffic is expected to be tough with 70 percent coming from north of Dover.

If traffic becomes too congested on Route 13 officials say they may shutdown Exit 104 forcing drivers to Exit 95 to bring them up from the south.

Recreational vehicles have already begun to arrive for the four day event.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Firefly Music Festival promoters are holding a competition for regional performing acts, with the winner to grace the festival stage.

WXDE-FM reports promoter Red Frog Events and REC Philly, have created the Big Break Live competition. It's open to acts within a 150-mile radius of the festival, taking place at The Woodlands at Dover International Speedway from June 15 to 18.

The Firefly Music Festival wrapped up last night with Mumford and Sons as thousand flocked to the annual event in the Woodland near Dover’s International Speedway.

During Saturday night’s performance Florence + The Machine dedicated the song “Dog Days are Over” to the LGBT community.

In the background a rainbow flag was draped behind the band as the crowd sang with Welsh.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the dedication comes in the wake of the mass shooting at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida in which 49 lost their lives and over 50 were wounded.

The Firefly Music Festival is underway.

The gates opened at 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon after a week of heavy rains that hit the Woodlands area near Dover International Speedway.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that this is not the first time there has been wet weather for the festival with an evacuation last year of the Woodlands during the Saturday night performance.

This year organizers installed large catch basins and mulch on the walkway has been replaced by gravel and rocks.

Tonight the Kings of Leon will return to the stage.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Music fans are descending on Dover for the fifth edition of the Firefly Music Festival.

Campers began arriving Wednesday at the Woodlands festival site near Dover International Speedway, where 90,000 fans gathered last year for the four-day festival.

This year's headliners include Two Door Cinema Club on Thursday, Kings of Leon on Friday, Florence + The Machine and deadmau5 on Saturday, and Mumford and Sons on Sunday.

The lineup also includes Ellie Goulding, blink-182, Death Cab For Cutie, Tame Impala, Of Monsters And Men, and Earth Wind and Fire.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Organizers of Dover's Firefly Music Festival have unveiled the complete schedule for next month's four-day festival.
     A daily schedule had already been released, but fans now know the exact set times, giving them a chance to see whether any of their favorite bands will be playing at the same time on different stages.
     The festival kicks off Thursday, June 16 at 5:15 p.m. with Los Angeles electro-pop trio LANY and the dream pop group Twin Limb. Headliners Kings of Leon will play a 90-minute set the next day, starting at 10:45 p.m.

The Firefly Music Festival is selling one-day passes again.

The tickets are available for $129 with VIP passes costing $249.

Last year there were around 90-thousand who attended the festival when single day passes were not available.

The four day pass runs $319 for general admission and VIP that have already been on sale.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the festival will take place from June 16th through the 19th in Dover.

The paper reports that among the acts are Kings of Leon and Florence and the Machine.

If you want to get a temporary job this year to work on the Firefly Music Festival or the NASCAR race in Dover there’s a job fair on April 2nd at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino.

The positions range from hospitality and admissions to concession, cleanup and merchandise.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that NASCAR will hold a number of events this year in May and October.

Firefly Music Festival takes place June 16th through June 19th.

The job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mumford and Sons, Kings of Leon as well as Florence & The Machine are headlining next year’s Firefly Music Festival.

The announcement shocked fans because last time the lineup was not officially announced until February.  

Early bird admission for the four day wristbands is $279 and will go up to $299 on December 31.  

The general admission wristband that includes a collectible pass runs $289.

Or, if you want a bandanna and water bottle the price is $309.

Around 80-thousand attended the last Firefly Festival.

Despite the downpour, high winds and lightning the  Firefly Music Festival saw some 90-thousand show up for the event.

After the weather shutdown the music festival’s acts around 10 p.m. Saturday night by Sunday morning the sun had come out and the fans came streaming in.

Saturday’s cancelation saw at least six acts including the Kings of Leon who did not make it to the stage.

On Friday, former Beatle Paul McCartney headlined the evening playing for some three hours.

It’s still 24 hours before the music begins but campers are already arriving for the Firefly Music Festival.

The festival opens today and there was a small contingent of campers who arrived in Dover by 8 a.m. yesterday.

They waited at a nearby parking lot until the campsites open at noon.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that they expect 65-thousand campers for this year’s festival for a total of over 90-thousand expected attendees.

An extra day of camping was added to the four day festival that runs through Sunday.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - The organizers of Delaware's Firefly Music Festival are expecting up to 90,000 attendees at this year's event.

The festival, scheduled from June 18-21, has 119 announced bands, including headliners Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon and The Killers. Last year about 80,000 people attended.

There will be no one-day general admission passes for this year’s Firefly Music Festival.

The reason: Sales have been very strong since early March.

The festival in Dover which runs June 18-to-21 will feature Paul McCartney for his first appearance at the concert venue.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that normally the single day passes are available as long as the multi-day passes are not sold out.  

In previous festivals a single day pass could be purchased on the day of the show.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Organizers of the Delaware's Firefly Music Festival say former Beatle Paul McCartney will headline this year's event.

Wednesday's announcement comes a week after festival organizers announced a partial lineup led by the Kings of Leon and The Killers.

But last week's lineup did not include McCartney, despite weeks of rumors that he would be the top draw. Organizers said at the time that they were still waiting on final approval for the third headline act.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Organizers of the Firefly Music Festival in Delaware have announced this year's lineup but are still working to finalize a third headliner.

The lineup released Tuesday is led by Kings of Leon and the Killers. Other acts include Morrissey, Snoop Dogg, Foster the People and Modest Mouse.

One name not on the list is former Beatle Paul McCartney, who had been rumored for weeks to be this year's top headliner.

There’s a country music battle going on in Delaware.

The Big Barrel Country Music Festival will be held at the Dover International Speedway this summer.

And it’s being sponsored by the Firefly Music Festival.

But it’s basically a spinoff of the Delaware Junction country music festival.

Big Barrel will be held in the The Woodlands near the Speedway from June 26 to June 28.

Tickets for Big Barrel went on sale yesterday for $99 apiece.

Delaware Junction tickets run $199 and go on sale today.

A new report found that the Firefly Music Festival held in Dover brought in $68 million for the regional economy earlier this summer.

The University of Delaware study found that each festival-goer spent around $850 for goods and services.

The survey interview around 900 attendees about their purchases at the festival and off-site businesses along with 5-thousand people who were contacted on line.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that study said the festival created 579 full-time equivalent jobs along with wages and salaries of $23 million.

This weekend’s Firefly Music Festival drew some 80-thousand people.

That’s about the same as the number at the event in Tennessee.

There were around 110 musical acts with fans spread out over 300 acres during the four day festival.

Only minor traffic problems were reported.

Dover police said there were a few arrests for disorderly conduct but no major issues.

As the sunset last night the feel-good acoustic act of Jack Johnson sang Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” on the main stage.

The traffic in Dover as the Firefly Music Festival gets underway was not as bad as it was last year.

The Delaware Department of Transportation and festival organizers made a number changes from last year including a longer festival to spread out the arrival times of attendees.

Greg Bostrom, director of the festival told WBOC that for the most part the festival kept traffic off of U.S. Route 13.

Nonetheless even though Thursday went well Delaware officials expect the worst to come on today.

The famed Punkin Chunkin event could be moving to Dover’s International Speedway this fall.

Earlier this year the event lost its venue near Bridgeville over liability issues.

The Speedway would provide a much bigger space that would allow the pumpkins to be shot further than ever before while generating revenue for the venue.

Gary Camp, a spokesman for the Speedway, told the Wilmington News Journal that events like the recent Firefly Music Festival and Punkin Chunkin were a natural fit.

He called it a win-win for everyone.

With three weeks to go before some 80-thousand music lovers flock the Firefly Music Festival in Dover it has been announced that Brit rockers Arctic Monkey will headline the main stage on Friday.

They will be rivaled by the Chicago hip-hopper Chance the Rapper who will be out on the Lawn Stage at 6:45 p.m.

Saturday matches include veteran Beck on the Lawn Stage against the pop noise duo Sleigh Bells on the Porch Stage.

Finishing off on Sunday will be Jack Johnson.

Sussex County appears to have snagged a new county music festival for next year with the County Council set to hold a public hearing on using a farm 1o miles east of Georgetown.

It’s being put together by Dewey Beach businessman and attorney Alex Pires who said that festival would take place in August of 2015.

And his first choice is the 1-thousand acre Hollyville Farms.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the event would use around 500 acres to accommodate some 15-thousand attendees.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - OutKast, the Foo Fighters and Jack Johnson will be headlining this year's Firefly Music Festival lineup in Delaware.

Festival organizers announced the lineup Tuesday. It also includes Grammy nominees Pretty Lights, Imagine Dragons and The Lumineers. Weezer and British rockers Arctic Monkeys also will perform.

The festival is scheduled for June 19-22 in Dover.

The Firefly Music Festival will expand to four days and five nights next year when it returns to Delaware.

The festival will grow to more than 100 musical acts across seven stages.

That’s up from last year’s 74 bands on six stages.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the expansion has authorities concerned about the traffic congestion resulting from the festival scheduled for June 19th-to June 22nd.

The Firefly Music Festival drawing more than 65-thousand people last weekend will be back next year.

Red Frog Events which managed the event said that the turnout was enough for a return engagement.

Festival Director Greg Bostrom told the Wilmington News Journal that the fans showed great enthusiasm adding that his organization was pleased to continue its relationship with the Dover International Speeedway and the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, Delaware’s Director of Tourism Linda Parkowski said that the local businesses took in as much as $23 million.

Dover is bracing for more than 60-thousand visitors who are expected to attend this weekend’s Firefly Music Festival.

Festival workers were out this week building stages and finish other construction projects.

There have been meetings between law enforcement, paramedics and officials from the Dover Downs Speedway as well as the state Department of Transportation.

Last year DelDOT closed Leipsic and Persimmon Tree roads near Dover Downs from 10 am Friday and through Sunday when the festival ended.

Organizers expect that the festival could twice the 30-thousand who attended last year’s event.

They  are again using such camping options as space both in and around the Dover International Speedway, which sold out by mid-April.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be headlining the second year of the Firefly Music Festival this summer.

In addition, the pioneering hip hop act Public Enemy, a 2013 Hall of Fame Inductee, will also grace the festival’s stage.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that there are 71 announced acts so far for the festival…which begins June 21st.

For the camping area organizers are considering putting in water slides and volleyball courts.
