DPR Programming Notes

The Vienna Philharmonic presents its ever popular annual New Year's Day concert from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. You'll hear your favorite waltzes, polkas and more -- a festive way to start off the New Year. It's presented by NPR Music and hosted by WBUR's Lisa Mullins.

New Year's Day at 11AM

UbiquiAmericana.  From the Latin word for "everywhere" and Americana, one of the fastest growing genera of music today! What is it? It isn't blues, bluegrass, standards, folk, rock, jazz or country...it's all of those things served up in a tasty smorgasbord by your host, Billy Earl.

Deadheads rejoice! The Grateful Dead Hour, hosted by David Gans, is coming to WSDL, 90.7 on Thursday January 7th at 9PM.  Its a weekly audio postcard from America's best loved band.

We have received word that George Harter, the host of the "A Night on the Town" radio series is retiring.  Broadway fans, have no fear. Starting January 2nd, 2016, A Night on the Town will be replaced by another equally wonderful program- Footlight Parade: Sounds of the American Musical.

11AM- Caroling with the Singers

This magical season rings with music and song like none other. Over the past month, public radio listeners from around the country have gone to YourClassical.org to vote for their favorite Christmas carols. The results are in, and with them, we'd like to invite you to a nationwide caroling sing-along — whether you're solo, or with colleagues, friends or family.

9AM- Welcome Christmas

A perennial broadcast favorite featuring the Minneapolis-based ensemble, VocalEssence. Recognized internationally as one of America's premier choral arts organizations, VocalEssence is led by the visionary Philip Brunelle. This year, we'll hear the world premiere of a new work by Alan Bullard.

10AM- A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
