OWINGS MILL, Md. (AP) - A Democratic candidate for governor of Maryland has died.

News outlets cite a release from Baltimore County police that says Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz died early Thursday, following a cardiac arrest. He was 60.

The release says Kamenetz was at home in Owings Mill when he awoke around 2 a.m., complaining of felling ill. He was hospitalized at St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was declared dead at 3:22 a.m.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Krish Vignarajah has named her running mate.

The former policy director for first lady Michelle Obama said Tuesday that Sharon Blake will accompany her on the ticket. Blake is former president of the Baltimore Teachers Union.

Vignarajah and Blake filed their candidacies at the state elections board on Tuesday, hours before the 9 p.m. filing deadline.

Vignarajah is running in a crowded Democratic primary to challenge Republican Gov. Larry Hogan.

The primary is June 26.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginians who aren't registered to vote but want to cast ballots in the March 1 presidential primary need to act fast.

Monday is the deadline to register.

In Virginia, voters don't register by party. Any registered voter may choose to cast a ballot in either the Democratic or Republican primary.

BOSTON (AP)- Martin O'Malley plans to announce his presidential intentions on May 30 in Baltimore, a move that could present another Democratic challenger to Hillary Rodham Clinton.

An O'Malley aide says the former Maryland governor will hold a conference call with supporters on Thursday night to discuss his plans. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal planning and was not authorized to speak publicly.
