This morning, we remember Madeline Perdue.

 

The first wife of Frank Perdue, she died at the age of 91 last month surrounded by her family at her home in Salisbury.

She met Frank Perdue when both were students at what was then the Salisbury Teacher's College- now Salisbury University.

She helped Frank to build what has become the hall mark poultry business on the Eastern Shore.

As winter approaches, the news on the homeless is profound.

The new figures from the National Center on Family Homelessness found that 1 out of every 45 children in the country are without a home.  The majority of those children at 7 years or younger.

In October 1933, George Armwood was lynched in Princess Anne, Maryland. This October marks the 78th anniversary of his death and the 100th anniversary of his birth.

While perhaps two thousand residents witnessed the event, it went almost unreported on the Eastern Shore while at the same time making national news.

Delmarva Today 10-14-2011 Watershed Implementation Plan

The Environmental Protection Agency has ordered that the Chesapeake Bay go on what's called a "pollution diet".  

 

Maryland counties have been charged with developing a Water Implementation Plan . They have until November 18th to submit a draft of their plans to the Maryland Dept. of the Environment.

 

Meanwhile, the EPA's plans have also drawn opposition with a lawsuit filled by the American Farm Bureau Federation.
