Crude-Rail Expansion at Delaware City Refinery

PBF Energy says it expects to expand it new crude-by-rail operation at the Delaware City Refinery, costing $50 million and allowing it to accept a total of 150-thousand barrels a day.

PBF officials said they will build capacity to unload another 40-thousand barrels of heavy Canadian crude with its success in shifting to low-cost heavy crude oil from south-central Canada’s Bakken fields.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the announcement comes just as Delaware City’s rail complex is operational with the first train of 100 or more tank cars set to arrive this week.
