child poverty

Kids County Study website

The number of Delaware children living in poverty has doubled since the beginning of the Great Recession.

In 2007 12 percent lived in poverty.

Today it is 20 percent.

That’s according to the Kids Count study.

The national rate is nearly 22 percent.

While the study begun 19 years ago was aimed at getting the nation to act Janice Barlow, director of the study, says that she does not see this happen except in pockets of the state.
