O'Malley Transportation Tax Measure Inches Forward in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A House panel has approved Gov. Martin O'Malley's proposal to raise new revenue for transportation projects with some changes when various increases will take effect.

The House Ways and Means Committee voted 15-4 on Monday for the bill.

It's estimated the measure will raise roughly the same amount of money as O'Malley's initial proposal, but it is being phased in more gradually in the opening years.

NASA Research Rocket Finally Launched from Wallops Facility

 

     ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) - After several delays, NASA has launched five rockets from Virginia that are part of a study of the upper level jet stream.

     The rockets began blasting off just before 5 a.m. Tuesday from NASA's space center on Wallops Island. Bad weather had postponed other planned launches last week.

     The Anomalous Transport Rocket Experiment (ATREX) will help scientists understand the jet stream, which is located 60 to 65 miles above Earth's surface.

No NASA Rocket Launch at Wallops Sooner than Sunday

 

       ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) - The launch of five suborbital rockets from Virginia's coast is being rescheduled again.

     NASA had planned to launch the rockets early Friday, following several earlier postponements due to bad weather. Cloudy skies at three viewing sites in Virginia, New Jersey and North Carolina forced the agency to postpone the launch. The launch requires clear skies

     NASA says it will decide Friday afternoon whether to attempt the launch Sunday morning.

Another Delay for Wallops Rocket Launch

 

       ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) - NASA is again rescheduling the launch of five rockets from Virginia due to bad weather.  The rockets are part of a study of the jet stream.

     The launch had been set for Thursday at NASA's space center on Wallops Island but has now been pushed back to early Friday. Bad weather has postponed the launch several times.

     The Anomalous Transport Rocket Experiment (ATREX) will help scientists understand the jet stream, which is located 60 to 65 miles above Earth's surface.

Wallops NASA Rocket Launch Delayed Again

 

      ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) - Bad weather has prompted NASA to reschedule the launch of five rockets from its Wallops Facility in Virginia.

     The rockers are part of a study of the upper-level jet stream.  The launch had been set for Wednesday morning but has now been pushed back to early Thursday. Bad weather has postponed the launch several days.

Wednesday is Latest Launch Date for NASA Rocket at Wallops Flight Facility

 

            It won’t be until Wednesday morning before the launch of five NASA sounding rockets from Wallops flight facility.

            The countdown is set begin at 7 pm tonight.

            The launch was delayed in recent days because of possible bad weather.

            The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the multiple launches will allow scientists to study winds at the edge of space around 60 miles above the Earth’s surface.

            The mission is called the Anomalous Transport Rocket Experiment .

Rocket Launch at Wallops May Be Tuesday

 

     ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) - NASA has rescheduled the launch of five rockets from the Wallops Facility in Virginia as part of a study of the upper-level jet stream.

     The space agency says that it has pushed back its scheduled launch to no earlier than Tuesday night because of bad weather.

     The Anomalous Transport Rocket Experiment (ATREX) will help scientists understand the process responsible for the high-altitude jet stream located 60 to 65 miles above Earth's surface.
