ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland has revised its enrollment goal for its new health insurance exchange after months when it looked like the state could miss its target

The Washington Post reports researchers decided the original goal was based on flawed data. Now the state has already beat its new enrollment goal.

Virginia GOP Pushes Against Medicaid Expansion


RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Republicans in the Virginia House of Delegates is set to vote against a proposal to accept federal Medicaid funding.

A largely symbolic full floor vote is scheduled for Thursday. Republican leaders said they wanted to show they are united in opposition to a proposal by the Democratically controlled Senate to expand publicly funded health insurance coverage for low-income Virginians.

Democrats and a few Republican senators want Virginia to take the federal funds, saying the state's working poor need the extra help.

Delaware Reaches Deal With Insurance Carrier to Extend Health Care Policies

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware officials have reached a tentative agreement with one insurance carrier that could allow policyholders facing cancellations because of the Affordable Care Act to keep their policies for the time being.

Officials announced the tentative agreement Wednesday but did not identify the carrier.

The Department of Insurance is continuing discussions with other carriers about allowing policyholders to renew policies that don't comply with the federal health care law.

Health Plan Cancellations in Md, Virginians Get Health Insurance Tax Credits

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Maryland Insurance Administration says carriers have notified the state that they plan to discontinue non-grandfathered individual health benefit plans affecting more than 73,000 members in Maryland next year.

Individual health insurance policies are being canceled for millions of people nationwide who buy individual insurance policies as federal health care reform requires plans to cover certain benefits. Policies are being discontinued because they don't meet the higher benefit requirements of the Affordable Care Act.

Delaware State Panel Meets on Setting Up Health Exchanges


DOVER, Del. (AP) - A state panel is getting an update on Delaware's plans to implement a new health insurance exchange being set up under the federal health care reform law.

The Delaware Health Care Commission meets Wednesday afternoon in Dover to receive a presentation on the Affordable Care Act and an update on the implementation of Delaware's health insurance marketplace.

The state will begin enrolling clients in its health insurance exchange in October for coverage effective Jan. 1, 2014.
