(AP) - It’s that time of year when gas prices are expected to rise as the tourist season gets underway on Delmarva.

Crude oil prices are at the highest level in more than three years and expected to climb higher, pushing up gasoline prices along the way.

The U.S. daily national average for regular gasoline is now $2.81 per gallon. That's up from about $2.39 per gallon a year ago

And across the U.S., 13 percent of gas stations are charging $3 per gallon or more, AAA Mid-Atlantic said last week.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - It's spring time, and gas prices are growing like weeds.

Drivers in the Mid-Atlantic region and across the country are paying more at the pump as stations switch over to summer blend fuel and oil prices continue to climb.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says motorists in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey are paying at least four cents more for gas compared to last week.

AAA also warns that gas prices could increase another five to 10 cents ahead of the summer driving season.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Infotainment systems in automobiles may help drivers stay plugged in, but they can also cause them to zone out.

That's the conclusion from new research on distracted driving released Thursday by AAA's Center for Driving Safety and Technology.

In the study, University of Utah researchers found that drivers using in-vehicle technologies like voice-based and touchscreen features could be visually and mentally distracted for more than 40 seconds when completing tasks like programming navigation or sending a text message.

The Department of Transportation told the Salisbury Daily Times that this will allow a smoother drive for motorists.
