88th Pony Penning in Chincoteague

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. (AP) - Tens of thousands of visitors descended Chincoteague where dozens of ponies made their annual swim from Assateague Island to Chincoteague.

It’s the 88th edition of the spectacle celebrated by Marguerite Henry's 1947 novel "Misty of Chincoteague".

The so-called Saltwater Cowboys have rounded up approximately 150 ponies that live on Assateague for the swim. After the swim, the ponies are rested before they're paraded down Main Street.

Successful Launch for Antares

ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) - A company contracted by NASA to deliver supplies to the International Space Station has successfully launched a rocket in a test of its ability to send a cargo ship aloft.

The unmanned Antares rocket blasted off Sunday from Wallops Island on Virginia's Eastern Shore. About 10 minutes after the launch, Orbital Sciences Corp. of Dulles declared the test a success after observing a practice payload reach orbit and safely separate from the rocket.
