Worcester County Comissioner Hit With Bill for Back Taxes

Jul 11, 2012

Worcester County Commissioner James Purnell has been hit with a lien filed by the state comptroller for back income taxes in 2009 and 2010.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that County paperwork filed last month says that the lien totals $18-hundred in taxes with $456 in interest and $109 in penalties.

The bottom line is nearly $24-hundred.

Purnell says that this was the result of “an honest mistake” and “oversight”.

He said that he had filed state and federal taxes through H&R Block in Berlin.

Purnell adds that while he was given until October to pay the bill he plans to mail a check for the payment in full or in part.
