GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - Strong storms that blew through Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore left thousands of utility customers without power.

Delmarva Power reported about 2,000 customers without power Thursday morning, down from a peak of about 7,800 outages.

The vast majority of remaining outages Thursday were in Delaware, with about 600 in Kent County, 700 in New Castle County and 580 in Sussex County. Another 120 customers in Caroline County, Md. were without power.

A wind advisory for gusts up to 50 miles per hour was in effect for much of the morning for most areas of Delaware.
