Widow of Courthouse Shooter to Remain Behind Bars

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The widow of a man who killed their former daughter-in-law and another woman at a Delaware courthouse following a bitter custody battle involving their son will remain behind bars pending a detention hearing on federal conspiracy and stalking charges.

A federal magistrate on Thursday ordered 68-year-old Lenore Matusiewicz and her 41-year-old daughter, Amy Gonzalez, to remain in custody pending a detention hearing next Thursday.

Matusiewicz and Gonzalez are the mother and sister of former Delaware optometrist David Matusiewicz. All three were indicted last month on charges of conspiracy and stalking involving his ex-wife, Christine Belford.

David Matusiewicz's father, Thomas, fatally shot Belford and her friend, Laura Mulford, in February before exchanging gunfire with police and killing himself.

The gunman's family members have denied knowing that he intended to kill Belford.
