Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy Shot This Morning

A suspect is in custody following a barricade incident this morning, in which a Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Deputy was shot.

An official with the Cambridge Police Department says the incident happened at 10:30 a.m. 29-year-old Thomas Funk, a Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy and a member of the U.S. Marshal's Task Force, reported to a home on Hubbard Street to serve a warrant, to a suspect  identified as 22-year-old  Tavon Dobson, of Cambridge.

Allegedly when Funk attempted to serve Dobson, the suspect shot the Deputy in upper left arm and barricaded himself inside the home. The stand-off ended this afternoon, with officials taking Dobson into custody. The Wicomico Sheriff's Office says Funk will undergo surgery at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, but that he is in stable condition.

Authorities told Delmarva Public Radio that six police officials were involved in the incident, but Deputy Funk was the only officer injured.

Dobson, whose last known address was a residence on Greenwood Avenue, was issued two warrants in August for theft, assault and arson charges.
