Ward Museum Awarded $30,000 by the Perdue Foundation

The Salisbury University’s Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art has been awarded $30-thousand from the Perdue Foundation.

The money will go to support the Living Classroom and Environmental Education Experiences program.

Jim Perdue, chair of Perdue Farms, says the Ward Museum has been an important part of the Eastern Shore.

“It fills in a great void in education, the folklore of the Eastern Shore. I think when we bring people in from outside the state or even the country this the place we love to take them because they learn a lot about the watermen and the birds and what make this a great area.”

The Living Classroom will overlook Schumaker Pond and will include enhanced walkways, plantings and outdoor learning areas.

The Museum says it is an effort to connect the outdoor learning experience to the indoor classroom.

The area will be available for fieldtrips for students Kindergarten through 12 and visitors year-round.

It will be named the Perdue Courtyard.
