A teenager from Wallops Island was killed in a single-vehicle car crash on Friday in Accomack County.

Police told the Salisbury Daily Times that police arrived on the scene at around 10:40 p.m. on Atlantic Road in Assawoman.

18 year old Shyasia Davis was killed when the 17 year old driver from Parksley was unable to handle a turn and ran off the road hitting a tree.

The paper reports that Davis was a student at Chincoteague High School and the passenger in the car.

The driver was not identified because that person is a minor.

Police said one factor involved in the crash was the speed of the vehicle.
