Wallops Flight Facility Ready for Takeoff

nasa.tv

Fourteen months after a rocket explosion at Wallops Flight facility NASA says it’s ready for another launch.

The Antares rocket exploded just seconds after liftoff carrying supplies to the International Space Station.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Dale Nash, who is in charge of the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority, stood yesterday on the site where the explosion took place.

He told reporters that the facility had replaced anything that appeared to have been damaged by the heat or blast.

The paper reports that the cost of the repairs came to $15 million which was paid for by NASA, the commercial company Orbital Sciences and the pad’s owner Virginia Space Major.

They were finished by the end of September.
