WASHINGTON (AP) - One of Vice President Joe Biden's most vocal supporters is joining the super PAC working to draft him into the 2016 presidential race.

Dick Harpootlian is the former chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party. He tells The Associated Press that he's donating $10,000 of his personal funds to the group Draft Biden and is ready to donate another $10,000 if asked.

Harpootlian says he's also formally endorsing Draft Biden and will start fundraising for the super PAC immediately.

The super PAC isn't affiliated with Biden but is attracting growing support from prominent Biden supporters and former associates. Josh Alcorn, a former Biden campaign aide and political adviser to his late son, joined the group on Sunday.

Biden is considering a third presidential campaign, but hasn't yet announced a decision.

Valeries Biden Owens

Vice President Joe Biden’s sister says the Biden family has not been getting together on whether he should run for president.

Valerie Biden Owens told the Wilmington News Journal that her brother “will when he decides.”

The paper also reports that Margaret Aitken who was the Vice President’s press secretary when he was a senator said she has not talked about a presidential run with Biden.

The 72-year old Biden has run for president twice before – in 1988 and 2008.

He stands at 13 percent in the polls – that’s far behind former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
