RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginians are headed to the polls to elect the top three state officials and a new House of Delegates.

At the top of the ticket, Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe are battling to succeed Gov. Bob McDonnell. Cuccinelli is the attorney general, and McAuliffe is a former national Democratic Party chairman and fundraiser for Bill and Hillary Clinton.

The choices for lieutenant governor are Democratic state Sen. Ralph Northam and Republican minister E.W. Jackson.

Two state senators, Democrat Mark Herring and Republican Mark Obenshain, are competing for attorney general.

Fifty-seven of the 100 House candidates face no major party opposition. Democrats hope to cut into the Republicans' two-thirds majority.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
