Virginia Liquor Stores Can Open an Hour Earlier on Sundays

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - State-owned liquor stores in Virginia are opening an hour earlier on Sundays.

The Daily Press reports the changes went into effect this month as part of a new state budget.

The budget language allows the state-run liquor monopoly to open on noon on Sundays instead of 1 p.m., as well as stay open on New Year's Day.

The stores are not required to open earlier, but Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control said nearly all stores will.
