RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's legislative money committees have announced a slate of public hearings on the next state budget.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe introduces his proposed two-year, approximately $100 billion spending plan on Dec. 17. That will be the starting point for the House Appropriations and Senate Finance committees, which are tasked with presenting a budget before the end of the 2016 General Assembly session.

The committees will conduct four regional public hearings on Jan. 7. Hearings at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg and Wytheville Community College are set for 10 a.m. Hearings at the Tidewater Community College Chesapeake campus and the General Assembly Building in Richmond are scheduled for noon.
