Virginia Congressman Scott Rigell is asking his fellow Republicans to vote for anyone but Donald Trump in his state’s presidential primary.
Rigell sent an open letter in which he said he rejected Trump on the basis of his temperament, judgment and character.
The Virginia Republican noted the failure of Trump to reject any endorsement from former Klansman David Duke during a network television interview.
Rigell, who has announced he will not run for re-election, said that a Trump nomination would be nothing short of catastrophic."
He added that Trump would be dangerous if he did win the White House.
The second district congressman represents Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
