Vessel Runs Aground in Delaware River

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A freighter has run aground in the Delaware River south of Philadelphia.

The Coast Guard says the 328-foot Bermuda Islander lost power and propulsion around 9 p.m. Monday and became stranded near Salem, New Jersey.
 
There were 12 people aboard when the Netherlands-flagged ship ran aground. No injuries have been reported.
 
The Coast Guard says it's monitoring the situation.
 
Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Brown says it wants to get the vessel safely back underway while mitigating pollution.
 
No pollution has been reported.
 
Salem is about 31 miles southwest of downtown Philadelphia and 12 miles southeast of Wilmington, Delaware.
