A Delaware state panel is calling for renewed efforts to deal with violence in the state’s schools.

The recommendations by the Special Committee on School Safety were put together after the deaths of two students at Howard High School of Technology.

The involved 16 year-old Amy Joyner-Francis who died in April from an assault and 15 year-old Brandon Wingo who was shot and killed just blocks from the high school.

The recommendations ranged from upping the number of counselors and providing police for more schools to alternative programs for disruptive students and beefing up efforts to stop cyberbullying.

In addition, they recommended conducting surveys to get more input from teachers, students and parents on making school safer.
