Unitarian Church Puts Up Another "Black Lives Matter" Banner

First Unitarian Church of Wilmington

The First Unitarian Church in Wilmington has hung banners celebrating the Black Lives Matter movement up along U.S. Route 202.

And this time reports the Wilmington News Journal they are hoping they will stay up.

Previous signs had been torn after they had been vandalized.

The banners read, ”Black Lives Matter” and “Standing on the side of love.”

They went up on Sunday morning.

The mostly white church said that for each incident of vandalism it would make a donation to the national Black Lives Matter movement.

Reverend Roberta Finkelstein told the News Journal that many people in the community have shown up at the church to donate money and their support for hanging up the banners.

Meanwhile, the paper reports that dozens of people showed up on the sidewalk along U.S. 202 as the signs were put up yesterday.

They now hang more than 12 feet off the ground to keep them away from vandals.
