Tragedy has struck the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

19 year old Devin Aaron was killed when the car he was driving went off the side of the road near Palmetto Church Road and overturned.

Police say the passenger 20 year old Kandace Sewell was thrown from the car.

She was taken by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and then later transferred to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Campus spokesman Bill Robinson told the Salisbury Daily Times that she suffered cuts, bruises and a broken leg.

Sewell is the daughter of Pocomoke city Police Chief Kelvin Sewell.

She was an attendant to Miss UMES in Saturday night’s Campus royalty Coronation.
