UD May Change Spring Break after Student's Death

oceancitymd.gov

The University of Delaware could be moving spring break in the wake of the death of a student during St. Patrick’s Day week.

The move comes after Willem Golden a freshman at Skidmore College died after he fell from a roof at an unofficial fraternity party in Newark on March 19.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that a number of universities including Towson, Rutgers and the University of Maryland hold their break the week of St. Patrick’s Day.

University of Delaware students have their break a week later.

But school officials say that they have heard many students from other universities come to for the UD break.

The University Provost Domenco Grasso announced in April that he would be working with the Faculty Senate to decide on what changes might be made.

This would not affect this year’s schedule.
