UD Adjunct Prof Dissmissed Over Warmbier Facebook Post

upclose.com

Adjunct professor Kathy Dettwyler won’t be coming back to the University of Delaware.

The decision not to renew her contract in the anthropology department came after a post on her Facebook page.

In it, she said, that Otto Warmbier deserved to die after being released by the North Koreans.

He was returned recently to his family in the U.S. after falling into a coma.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that in her original post she asked if it was wrong of her to think that Warmbier got exactly what he deserved.

She went on to castigate “young, white, rich clueless males” and that his parents would have to pay the consequences.

Her post has been subsequently deleted.

Warmbier was a student from the University of Virginia who was visiting North Korea.

He was arrested and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor after he was accused of taking a propaganda poster from his hotel.
