Tyson Acts After Mistreatment of Chickens Revealed on Video

Compassion Over Killing

A video has surfaced of Tyson Foods contractor hitting and killing chickens at a facility in Accomack County.

Tyson officials immediately responded to the video provided by the animal rights group Compassion Over Killing terminating their contract with the farmer.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that two Tyson officials responded in an email saying they were outraged by the actions of the contractor and would not be tolerated.

In addition, Tyson Foods said there would be a video conference as well as meeting with employees emphasizing the property management of handling the birds.

Ten employees shown on the video of the Temperanceville farm were fired.

The Daily Times reports that some of the chickens on the video were crushed after being run over by a forklift while one bird apparently was impaled on a metal nail at the end of a stick.
