crreative commons

Authorities say a two year old was struck by a car while playing in years in Berlin last night.

The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. when the boy wondered onto the Sinepuxtent Road and was struck by a car driven by 26-year old Thomas Purnell.

The child and his mother were driven by Purnell to the local hospital which eventually transferred the child to Johns Hopkins for further treatment.

Police say alcohol does not appear to have been involved but Purnell was cited for driving with an expired driver’s license and without insurance.
