Two Incumbents Challenged in Newark City Elections

official photo

In Newark two candidates have decided to run against incumbent members of the city council.

Shirley Wilson is running against Council member Luke Chapman in District 5 and and M. Howland Redding has decided to challenge council member Stu Markham in District 6.

Redding has lived in the city for seven years and has served as president of the Newark National Little League.

Another potential contest is in District 2 where Sharon Hughes and Todd Ruckle say they’re considering a run to fill the seat being vacated by longtime council member Jerry Clifton.

He is resigning office after 17 years for health reasons.
