The directors of Wicomico County’s finance and public works departments have been fired.
The new county executive Bob Culver said the dismissal of the county’s Finance/Budget director Andrew Mackel was strictly his decision.
Culver told the Salisbury Daily Times that the two were on different paths although he praised Mackel for his service.
In addition, Public Works Director Lee Beauchamp was also dismissed.
Both were appointed by former County Executive Rick Pollitt who was defeated by Culver in last year’s election.
But the new county executive emphasized that this was neither a cost cutting measure nor a housecleaning.
