Tuition for students at the University of Delaware will be going up by more than 2 percent as they sign up for next year.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the base tuition and fees will rise by 2.4 percent or $310 for undergraduate resident students.

The total for the year will be nearly $13-thousand dollars.

For non-residents tuition will rise by 2.6 percent or $830 for a total of over $32-thousand a year.

Last year the increase in tuition was 1.5 percent for resident undergraduates and 2.4 percent for non-resident undergraduates.

University officials told the News Journal that these increases were in line with the national trends which rose 2.9 percent last year for in-state residents.

For out of state tuition it rose 3.3 percent last year.
