Going to the University of Delaware is set to get a little more expensive.

Tuition will rise by $178 for in-state students and for a total of just over $12,500 and for out-of-state students tuition will go up by $728 for a total of just over $31,400.

The increases represent a 1.4 percent hike for in-state students and a 2.3 percent hike for out-of-state students.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that University officials emphasized that they were committed to keeping down costs.

The paper reports that the College Board reports that tuition at private schools went up by 3.7 percent last year.
