Tropical Storm is Moving Toward Delmarva

weather underground

Tropical Storm Hermine is headed our way and could dump as much as 5 inches of rain on the Delmarva Peninsula.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Ocean City is clearing life guard stations from the beach.

Rip currents were being reported yesterday at the resort.

In Crisfield officials are waiting to decide if they will go ahead with the annual National Hard Crab Derby.

Also set for Labor Day is the annual Skipjack races and organizers hope the storm will be over by then.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rain by Saturday and then taper off by the following day.

Delmarva Power is also moving to prepare for outages when the rain hits the region.

The Daily Times reports that their preparations include 200 internal linemen and around 100 contractors and tree crews.

In addition, there will be help from Atlantic City Electric and Pepco.
