HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say a tractor trailer carrying suits used for radioactive cleanup overturned on Interstate 81 in western Maryland.

It happened about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on I-81 southbound in Hagerstown, troopers said in a news release. The truck was carrying two sealed shipping containers that held the suits. Police say the cargo was considered safe by hazardous material crews and posed no threat to people or property. The containers will be re-evaluated for soundness before being removed from the scene, troopers said.

Authorities say all lanes of the highway were closed while heavy-duty tow trucks were on the scene to right the tractor trailer.

Troopers say the suits were being hauled from the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station in central Pennsylvania to Tennessee for disposal.
