Townhall on Obesity in Delaware

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Officials at Delaware State University are hosting a town hall meeting focusing on the problem of obesity in America.

Wednesday's meeting features a panel discussion with local experts and clips from a documentary entitled "The Weight of the Nation."

Residents of Kent County, which officials say has been ranked the heaviest county in the state, are invited to attend the meeting.

An initial meeting, directed at Kent County leaders, was held two weeks ago to discuss how community design can impact healthy habits.

Officials say 29 percent of Delaware adults are obese, double the percentage of 20 years ago. According to the state's most recent Behavioral Risk Factor Data, the highest prevalence is found in Kent County, where 32 percent of adults are obese.
