A Dover City Council committee has given its blessing last night to tougher guidelines for background checks of volunteer coaches for youth leagues.
The new guidelines would include a check of the sex offender’s registry and criminal background checks as well as looking at arrest records and financial background.
The staff will now work up ways to implement the new background check which could take up to 30 days.
